This farm near Beverley offers a truly one-of-a-kind animal experience where you can groom, trek with, and actually cuddle a group of Highland and retired dairy cows!
Where is the experience?
Dumble Farm is a working farm with a strong focus on conservation and environmental projects, located in Arram – a small village just outside Beverley in East Yorkshire. Alongside their farming operation, they’ve developed a range of hands-on animal experiences, with their cuddle cow sessions becoming particularly popular

You’re not just paying for a photo opportunity, you’re supporting a local farm that takes its conservation mission seriously. Tip: You will get muddy, so wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
What to Expect
The full cow cuddling and Highland cow experience runs for around 4 hours and takes you through several different activities. Here’s what we did on our visit:
- Meet and groom the young Highland cows: We got up close, gave them a brush, and fed them plenty of snacks.
- Cuddle cow session: We had the chance to lie down next to the cows, brush them, and some even rested their heads on our laps.
- Highland cow trekking: The young Highlands were fitted with halters; we took them on a short walk around the farm.
- Dumble Bus cow safari (weather permitting). We hopped on the farm’s bus to head out into the fields to meet the older highlands and the resident bull, K2.

Price: We paid £120 per person for the full experience of 4 activities
Duration: Approximately 4 hours
Location: Arram, near Beverley, East Yorkshire
Getting there: It’s best reached by car if possible. Beverley train station is around 3 miles away
Booking: Booking is required. You can do this via their website. Sessions fill up quickly, so keep an eye out for the ticket release date each month
What to wear: Old clothes and sturdy footwear – you will be around lots of animals and on farm ground
Is it worth it?
Absolutely, yes. At £120 per person, it’s not a cheap day out, but it genuinely feels worth every penny. The experience is well-run, the animals are beautiful and relaxed, and the whole team clearly cares about what they’re doing. We first visited Dumble Farm for their Highland cow trekking a few years ago and had been left wanting to return ever since – the cuddle cows completely delivered on our expectations.
If you’re an animal lover in or around East Yorkshire, this should go straight to the top of your list. It’s the kind of day out you’ll still be talking about months later.
